Christmas House Week!
We had a super fun, full week here at The Mantelpiece, collaborating with several designers!
We spent the beginning of the week with Vanessa Kiki Johanning decorating a room for the 2023 Christmas Fantasy House. They figured out Kiki is the longest participating designer, at 14 years, and I have been along for the ride most of those years! Exciting!
Tickets are sold online and at local businesses to tour this beautiful house, all decked out in its Christmas fantasy finery by generous area designers and businesses, and all proceeds are donated to The Ronald McDonald House.
Isn’t that so cool? It is encouraging to me personally to be around all those super creative designers, each starting with a blank room, and ending with their own fabulous personal decorated visions of that space. And each room is so different from the others, you can’t help but be inspired to create something!
And of course, this is great opportunity to get together with your friends, while supporting an amazing cause! My GLADS ladies all bought their tickets to go tour this stunning place together next week!
After we finished it up, if a project like that is ever ACTUALLY finished, our room was (yet again) featured on the local news, and Kiki and I went out for a celebratory breakfast. Yay!
Are there fundraising events like this in your area? I encourage you to do a quick search to find out!
On thursday, I had the honor of assisting in the filming of Kikis MadeTV Live workshop, where she made fabulous sparkly headbands! Did i mention it was a BUSY WEEK? But it was all FUN!
The week was finished off with my GLADS night, where I was amazed yet again on how I can put a bunch of supplies on my table, and everyones project can come together and look so different! Continuing with my theme of the week, we made Christmas houses for the win! I’ll talk about this project in another post.
As much fun as it is to share all this fabulousness with you, I am off to join my family outside to get some stuff put away before the weather turns. Again.
Oh! I forgot to mention, we also battled a WHITEOUT to get to the showhouse. Ah, fun times in October in Wisconsin!
